Open Ocean is a commercial production company headquartered in Honolulu. Founded in 2018 by producer Melissa Shipman, the studio produces campaigns, brand films, and editorial for global brands and agencies — including Vogue, Nike, Adidas, Bloomingdale's, R Magazine, Howard Hughes, AG1, and the Fairmont group.

Melissa brings years of producing and location-managing commercial shoots across the mainland, as well as location management and production on major motion pictures — keeping the studio plugged into the same crew network, vendors, and process used by the largest productions shooting in Hawaii and on the West Coast.

That depth scales: we crew international keys, run multi-location productions, and deliver to broadcast, agency, and brand specifications.

Honolulu is our base; the Hawaiian Islands are our home advantage. We know which locations need permits, which roads close at sunrise, who to call when a shoot extends two days into a north swell. We travel for the right brief.
